The son of an engraver Fernand Guignier was a student of sculptors Émile Derré and Jean-Antoine Injalbert at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris. Between 1926 and 1960, he participated sixteen times in the salon of French artists at the Palais de Tokyo, where in the categories of sculpture he exhibited many busts and statues. In 1938 he presented a plaster entitled Rêverie, which depicts a seated child, then in 1943 the figure of a saint, closely related to the history of Paris, the figure of Saint Geneviève. In 1946 he presented the torso of an athlete and in 1947 the plaster Naïade .
As an artist, he was very active in the Montmartre district of Paris. In 1941, for a fountain in the square Suzanne-Buisson, he sculpted a statue of Saint Denis, the first bishop of Paris around 250, who died beheaded on a hill called "Montagne des Martyrs" (Montmartre). According to legend, Saint Denis would have carried his head in his hands to his tomb, where the Basilica of Saint-Denis was erected . Guignias represent next to the saint who carries his head in his hands.
As a painter, Guignier remained loyal to Paris and Montmartre. Numerous oil paintings, watercolors and sketches show various places in the neighborhood and other popular areas of central Paris, such as Notre-Dame Cathedral, Place de la Concorde and Île de la Cité.
